Ever heard of an all-vegetarian Italian-Mexican restaurant? We had the pleasure of experiencing one just recently! Yes, that’s right, Riso at Oud Metha is a new food haven for all foodies, especially the vegetarians. It has been created by the same people who own Punjanbi By Nature and in fact, has opened up at the same spot since the restaurant closed down earlier this year to shift to a new location.
Although having quite a simple appearance from the outside, you will be awed when you step into the restaurant’s colorful chic interior. They have a comfortable seating space as well, where we settled down quickly to get started with our feast. The mocktails selection was great with Cosmo Fleshy, Frizzy Frizzy, Virgin Colada, Mojito, Chilli China and Coco Hamm, followed by 4 types of soup, Caesar Salad, an attractive selection of appetizers, pizza, pasta and more. Here, have a look at all the tempting edibles we devoured on.
Mushroom Cappuccino – an authentic tasting mushroom soup served in a mug with some milky froth on top
Zuppa Di Asparagus – a lovely cream of asparagus soup
Zuppa Di Pomodoro – tasteful tomato soup blended deliciously with crunchy croutons
Lemon Grass Soup – a delicious broth made with cauliflowers, mushrooms, carrots, capsicum, spring onion, lemon grass and ginger
Special Crostini – special farmer’s bread grilled to precision and topped with capsicum, zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted aubergine and mozzarella cheese
Pale Di Potato – marinated crispy potato skin served with garlic mayonnaise sauce
Masala Garlic Bread – a warm, aromatic treat to the taste buds
We also had Hummus and Special Nachos
Sicilia – loaded with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, garlic, pickled onions, sun-dried tomatoes, chilli oil and fresh basil
Julia Roberts Pizza – an attractive pizza with onions, capsicum, sun-dried tomatoes, jalapenos, olives, marinated with chilli oil and topped with coriander and mozzarella on a tomato sauce base
Pasta Don Vito – perfect pasta that arrived on a bed of sauce made with the delectable mix of fresh organic broccoli, gorgonzola cheese, fresh chopped tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic
Pasta Del Barone – cooked in a classic noble sauce with béchamel, tomato sauce, red chilli and parmesan cheese, simply delish!
Lasagne Alla Napoletana – homemade pasta layered with béchamel sauce and tomato sauce, garnished with basil mozzarella and ricotta cheese. This was baked to perfection!
From the Stone Grill Bar we tried the steamy rice with XO Sauce which brought a tsunami of flavors to the dish. Excellent!
Lastly, we had the Chef Special dessert which satisfied our sweet tooth perfectly. So overall, it was a very nice experience dining in a cozy ambiance and surrounded by friendly staff.
Punjabi By Nature had been one of my favorite place to indulge in desi food, and I was glad to discover that Riso offers the same authentic old school taste and equally flavorful food, with an Italian touch! It’s recommended to book a table by calling at 04-3966044.
