We all know that Dubai is a city that isn’t short of Asian-fusion restaurants, however, Namu is among the most intriguing fine dining restaurants that offer exceptionally good taste from Japan and Korea. Housed high up on the 31st floor of the W Hotel at Al Habtoor City, this high-end eatery provides diners with spectacular views of the Dubai Canal and the beautiful skyline. The interiors are pretty trendy too, whereas the menu is extensive and flaunts well-thought out delicacies prepared with unusual ingredients.
There were cold starters as well as hot ones. We tried the Guro Edamame, Seafood Tartar and Cucumber Soup. The Mul Hoe, a Korean ceviche was the best thing ever.
These were followed by the perfectly stuffed Beef Gyoza that was pan-fried to a crisp, Mix Tempura and the very tender Wasabi Prawn Tempura. From sushi, our pick was the Californian Maki, the authenticity of its taste was on point.
In our main meal, we had Jjok Galbi, a Korean version of delicious short ribs, and the rightly spiced lamb chops that were very well cooked. One thing that we really liked about this place was that the portions for each and everything we ordered arrived in a good size unlike the tiny servings presented at a few restaurants that don’t even fill you up and you keep ordering which turns out to be a mess at the end of the day both for your tummy and pocket! Here, we could even share our meals wholeheartedly due to the generous quantity.
Desserts at Namu were classy too. We tried the Mochi, which was quite overwhelming, the Pavlova, and the Decadence, a rich chocolate tart which is must try for sweet lovers.
Everything from the mocktails, to the appetizers and main course was truly delicious. Namu is the perfect example of Korean style Japanese fusion food done right! It currently opens for dinners only so do make your reservations beforehand if you want to enjoy the fantastic views from a table right next to the floor to ceiling windows. It’s a very pretty sight, highly recommended for date night!
