Double Tree by Hilton Hotel is an exquisite hotel on The Walk, JBR. It is home to several amazing restaurants, luxurious rooms and suites, impeccable hospitality and a lush interior.

We were invited to try out the Aftaar Buffet menu for one of their restaurants, Al Maeda, as they prepare to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.

Al Maeda has a clean, contemporary design. The traditional Arabic lamps, blue and white shimmering tiles and an airy open plan design set against the backdrop of a breath-taking view of the sea give the place a very classy and extravagant look.

They buffet menu included over 20 classic Middle Eastern dishes ranging from delectable soups to savoury mains to mouthwatering desserts.. Here’s what we tried:

Soup:

Traditional Moroccan Tangine- which is a delicious Lentil Soup. Perfect consistency, great taste and a wonderful start to a great meal. The soup had a robust and intense flavour, which was hard to imagine from an ingredient as neutral as lentil.

Mains:

  • Slow Roasted Lamb Ouzi
  • Lamb Kebab
  • Shish Towook

All the dishes were pleasing to the eye and tongue alike. The meat was tender and cooked just right. It seemed to just slide off the bone at the slightest touch. The high quality of ingredients used was evident.

The dessert was probably the best part of the meal. We tried the Um Ali which is a popular Arabic dish. A great combination of taste and texture thanks to the nuts in a base of cream and milk.

The food was accompanied with a nice tasting Moroccan tea and for drinks we had Laban and date drinks.

Though the food is the highlight, there are plenty of other things to indulge in while you’re at Al Maeda. Good music, showcasing of the artwork of the talented Emirati artist Ahmed Al Muhairi and a raffle draw will be sure to keep you entertained.

The Hotel also offers a wonderful Ramadan room package for their esteemed guests who wish to travel to Dubai during Ramadan. For AED 440 (additional taxes may apply)per person, you get to avail their Iftar and Sohour meals along with a one bedroom suite.
